Comment posted Taxi TVs Annoy Some, But Riders Can’t Be Bothered With Off Switch by Charles T.
Where do these articles come from that do not show an author? The speeding, the fast pass?
Also, with 45,000 NYC cabbies, albeit not all are going to write comments, don’t you need a large capability for them?

- To Brooklyn Mark. Why doesn’t the Leave a Comment choice list the choices, and place the word ‘optional’ after the request for e-mail. Frankly, it is my opinion that even if you do not write in an e-mail address, this website will record it from the visit anyway. Am I correct? And after the Name box, while not write Nom de Plume is okay? Pardon my French!!! However, who is it that decides to share with who someone else’s e-mail address? Just asking.
- To Luis. I have a few more rear-end specific comments you might like to add to your vocabulary: ass backwards, kiss-ass MF, ass-kisser, crazy ass, the more you focus, the wider your vocabulary. If you’re shy remember bass ackwords, you didn’t want to say it? Remember the phrase your ass is grassed, or his ass is in a sling? Or what about kiss your ass goodbye? I do have to apologize again, society has so much butt focus. You are not alone. Hey, is this some kind of version of good cop bad cop?
- To Brooklyn Mark. But who shares the e-mail with other commenters if someone does place an e-mail address with the comment. I see the website does not show it with the comment. So who shares with other commenters if the website does not display it?
- Oh, no, NOT Yessky but Yassky? No saying Yessky to Bloombergsky?
- Winky. I like the idea of handing the rider a sealed moist towlette and asking them to turn off the bacteria garden tv, the noise driving you crazy. Telling them “you don’t want to know who was touching it.” Why don’t you spread this idea around!!! This is just defeating the cc and advertising tycoons!!

- Cab Drivers Have Their Say
JFK filthy cab stand toilets. Do the math, on average how many JFK toilet uses by cabbies every day, for each available toilet? I know it is a teriffic number. Thus, how many times a day is it reasonable for these toilets to be cleaned by JFK cleaning personnel? If they are not being cleaned enough, it is NOT SANITARY, and it is NOT SAFE for cabbies to use them. I am aware that given the huge number of uses per day, there are probably emergency visits that leave the toilets filthy and unusable. This is a fact of life, and undercleaning is NOT SAFE, AND UNSANITARY. For a TLC that seems to cry SAFETY when they want to take more money from cabbies, they ignore unsanitary and unsafe in cabbie and rider use areas. It is not the cost, it is the time. The rich reapers are busy counting all their cash taken from cabbie’ hands by the CC and advertising systems. So busy counting, they cannot set up an effective cleaning schedule, multiple times in 24 hours for the cabbie JFK toilets. Shame Shame Shame If you make a DEMAND OF SAFETY AND UNSANITORY, while the toilets are being fixed they will have to truck in PORTA POTTIES, a WHOLE STRING OF THEM. It is said you cannot make it as a NYC cabbie unless you put your hands on the wheel at the beginning of the shift and can’t take them off until the end of the shift. However, after holding it all day, no doubt it is emergency conditions at JFK where the driver runs to the toilet, and plops down breaking the toilet. These toilets need to be fixed. It is a fact of life. - Cabbies ‘Pass’ up fast lanes to rip off riders
To all NYC cabbies. Make it your business to notice what the NY Post and NY Daily News do in their cars and in their newspapers. Be sure they get 45,000 criticisms a day. And as I said above, once you make up your mind that you don’t need child-minded newspaper reporters stomping on cabbies day in and day out, find all the little legal things you can do to get on their case. After a while, they’ll be spending all their time defending themselves. Look for spelling errors in their newspapers, look for wrong facts in articles. As I said, payback is not fun. And as one good book said, take the mote out of your own eye before you go after the mote in someone else’s eyes.
No matter what these reporters do with facts, if 50 people did something at the tunnel, that is 50/one millionth of a days worth of rides. Hardly enough for a reporter to get paid to write up.
Frankly, I would not want 45,000 cabbies after me, on the road 24/7. You all have google, start looking them up, if they use their real names, or do they use fake names? - Cabbies ‘Pass’ up fast lanes to rip off riders
To DC. I cannot stand the thought that CEO Neil Greenbaum and his credit card advertising systems has the pump to insert himself between the driver and the rider and any tip the rider will care to leave. Mr. Greenbaum should not be suggesting any percentage to the rider to choose what Mr. Greenbaum has offered. If you must, a tip screen should be offered with an amount the rider can press in with finger, or the driver should be able to come to a tip spot on his meter and the riders can say what tip they want to leave. This is OBNOXIOUS that Mr. Greenbaum should decided that a 20% tip would not include tolls or anything else. Let the rider decide what the tip is and never mind Mr. Greenbaum. In fact, I’m thinking about asking all CC payers to pay whatever tip they want and please in cash and not by Mr. Greenbaum’s obnoxious suggestion. What a nerve. Can you imagine Mr. Greenbaum showing up at the restaurant table or the waitstaff handing the bill and saying do you want to leave no tip, 5% tip, 10% tip, 15% tip, 20% tip or 25% tip? This is so obnoxious. One private driver cabbie said to me he used to enjoy going to work in the morning, he keeps an immaculate, beutiful and expensive cab, but now with the credit card invasion he says he has to push himself out the door, he doesn’t like driving his cab anymore. Such an obnoxious person insinuating himself between the driver and the rider. Mr. Greenbaum is just the fleecer. - Cabbies ‘Pass’ up fast lanes to rip off riders
I was told if you went slowly on a long trip in a blizzard on the meter, a waiting or slow time factor is added in so the distance would be more than if you went regular speed; having said that, going on a long trip at 10 mph in a blizzard, yes you get more on the meter, but not enough of a fare to make up for the time spent.
Thus, not talking about being stuck in traffic, going the speed limit should produce a good fare, while if you speed, the faster you go, the time factor added in is less, the less the fare (this is why riders do not say go slower, ever).
If I am not correct, please let me know. - Most cabbies pass Daily News test, others take ‘tourist’ for a ride
TLC drums it over and over, no refusal of fares on small length of fares. Thus to set up such a ridiculous sting to try to again DEMONIZE cabbies as dishonest for taking the passengers is LUDICROUS in addition to being INVALID. How old are these reporters? You know you often see people with adult bodies, but they only have well-developed 5 year old minds. This DEMONIZING of cabbies is the work of children.

The worst of all when these stupid things first came out, they had that commercial for Channel 7 and “Sharde Wah” whatever her freakin` name is, and there was his woman screaming “Shaaaaaaadeeeeeeee” Oh my god, talk about hell on earth. I would go home everyday with the worst ripping headache I ever had in my life.
Rich reapers cheat riders every single day. The 5 rich reapers taking cash out of the cabbies’ pay told those supposedly stupid cabbies that the FARE INCREASE PAID BY RIDERS would cover cabbies’ loss. Of course it didn’t because daily commuting riders just paid the same using up the cabbies’ tips. However, the FARES DID GO UP and those riders who are not strictly work commuter riders, PAID and CONTINUE TO PAY the new higher fares. LET ME STATE IT CLEARLY: the cabbies did not realize higher pay, but the non-commuting RIDERS ALL PAID HIGHER FARES, THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OLD FARE AND THE HIGHER FARES where did it go? It went to the RICH REAPERS, the fleet rental garages, the meter people, AND CUTEST OF ALL credit card cuts and advertising revenue TO MR. NEIL GREENBAUM CEO OF VERIFONE TS, INC. YOU SEE, TLC apparently thought it was okay to force RIDERS to pay a higher fare to support the RICH REAPERS AND BANKS.
So, not only did the TLC authorize cuts in cabbies’ pay, but A HIGHER METER FARE that cheated the non-commuting rider by forcing them to pay the new extra amount (the fare differential) which goes STRAIGHT TO THE RICH REAPERS (again, including CEO Neil Greenbaum of Verifone).
However, let’s not discriminate against CEO Neil Greenbaum of Verifone, because the Creative Mobile Technologies CMT are another set of credit card RICH REAPERS, we can’t leave them out:
CEO Ron Sherman, Creative Mobile Technologies (CMT)
President and Chief Technical Officer, CTO Jesse H. Davis
Chief Operating Officer Jason Poliner
VP Sales & Customer Service Michael A. Sahm
VP Operations Jed Applebaum
What kind of silly newspaper reporters do the NY Post and NY Daily News employ that can’t figure out that the TLC by its authorization and mandates has cheated and is daily cheating the cab riding public, telling everyone the cab riding public LOVES all the new gadgets (hey, not to the tune of $5 a day). Maybe the riding public would like to save $5 a day, each one, by riding in a 4 or 5-year old cab, driven by safe driver from point A to point B, without the greed of high technology cluttering up the back seat and ears?
Instead, the NY Post and NY Daily News reporters are getting their underwear in a twiddle by trying to point out cabbies are speeding. I do not speed, but riders tell me to speed up!! The whole driving traffic in NYC and Manhattan is speeding and sometimes I do have to speed to avoid being a TARGET. Where do those NY Post and NY Daily News reporters come from? Are the RICH REAPERS whispering in the reporters’ ears?
more income to the drivers…… jajaja I have a good stadistis for the las 4 years in my pc and the numbers show that the average income for me is coming down from 1300-1250 weekly (2006) to 1100 to 1000 weekly (2010) nigth shift mon to sat. Actually It is very good money and I dont thing I can find another job with a similiar wage. My point is I am loosing money a long the time. Who is getting that money ? probably the recession takes 10% (130 bucks) and where the other money is going ? (120 bucks) everybody knows the anwser….. right?
“We want people getting into a cab to sit back and relax,” said Jesse Davis, the president of CMT. A taxi, he added, “is your quiet space, your little oasis.”
Wow, that has to be a new world record for hopping, skipping or jumping GALL.
CMT…a champion of the passenger’s right to a quiet space.
Someone just shoot me! [At least he had the good taste not to suggest that the cabbie has a right to work in an oasis of silence.]
Too bad the Marist survey didn’t ask people if they got frustrated when the CMT system refused to allow them to modulate the volume or to turn it off, for which it is renonwed among NYC passengers.
Or how many fares were lost because some riders simply didn’t want to be subjected to this nonsense on a long trip.
Or how the system is louder from the driver’s seat perspective than the rider’s in the back seat.
I bought today’s NY Post. I was busy and could only read a little but managed to find some data to discuss. First Bloomberg has appointed a new Deputy Mayor, Stephen Goldsmith, ex mayor of Indianapolis. Article, p. 2, says that like Skyler, Goldsmith will be the lone republican at City Hall. Maggie Haberman (reporter), can this be true? I always thought Bloomberg was a republican, it is hard to tell. Someone once said Bloomberg, for a republican, had quite a few democrat ideas. Perhaps Ms. Haberman should have given us Bloomie and Goldsmith’s political affiliations. It seems that City Hall must have plenty of republicans.
Any cabbies know the answers? Maggie speculated in the article whether Bloomie is going to give up his mayorship (because he wants to flop at a run for president!!), and is setting up Stephen Goldsmith to be elected as Mayor.
What do you all think?
Pps. 8-9 today carried columnist Andrea Peyser’s diatribe and slashing of the protesters on Wall Street, just going after one and another, saying people were there for funny causes like athlete’s foot, and being unemployed. She made scathing remarks about all these poor people and union people who were complaining about Wall St executives making $30 million a year. After reading this two-page spread, I decided this NY Post is a republican RICH REAPER RAG. And no democrat is going to be exalted by the NY Post or Ms. Peyser.
It seems it is a very simple separation, rich are republican, poor are democrats, and this rag is going to dump on the democrats all day long. The NY Post does not have a CLUE how NYC cabbies vote, but obviously Scuozzo and the other reporters who DEMONIZE cabbies consider then poor (compared to Wall St.) and democrats, and it seems the self-defined mission of the NY Post to DEMONIZE DEMOCRATS AND THE POOR PEOPLE, THE UNIONS.
Ms. Peyser goes beyond idiot, to MORON.
p. 5 NY POST. A PABLUM article printed and attributed to the AP. (You know sure this is a republican rag, Bill O’LIEly has a column.) Anyway the title of this silly article is “City sounds off on bus tour-ture.” Can you believe it? I read it to my passenger who I think is a physician. It said yesterday the City Council made a law that SILENCES THE HUNDREDS OF DOUBLEI-DECKER TOUR BUSES that roll through the streets by requiring a headphone systemn to replace loudspeakers.
Immediately my passenger said, OH, THE DISEASE!!
This is ridiculous. Instead of making a law that says the loudspeakers need to be low and gentle, just barely yeard, and not 200 decibels. No, they are mandating a huge system and cost be implemented. Then when that is done, WON’T THEY USE THESE EXPENSES TO RAISE BUS FARE? See how it works? But the NY Post had NO COMMENT AT ALL ABOUT DISEASE CAUSING HEADPHONES.
If it was a new law about cabs and noisy TVS, obviously they are not going to be alright with HEADPHONES IN A CAB, and the first thing they would say in the headline, NYC CABS TO SPREAD DISEASE. We know how it goes now, the republican rag, duming on cabbie democrats, but NOT DARING TO DUMP ON CITY HALL. NO NO NO NO. Those NY Post reporter chickens.
Only a few pages NY POST and I found plenty to complain and criticize. I’ll keep this paper a few more days, and read the rest. I am sure there is plenty of material to criticize. DEMONIZING reporters can be fun!!! I notice up above that the NY Daily News reporter made the comment: that NY Post had reporterd 36,000 cabbies cheating passengers, when it turned out that most of those were innocent mistakes. Well, at least that was somewhat of a DEMONIZING retraction, by one newspaper the NY Daily News on behalf ot the NY Post which ain’t no way apologizing for nothing if it is bad about democrats and poor people.
Chip, thanks for noticing Jesse Davis’ stupidity and writing it up!!!
Charles, how do you feel each day in your cab to hear that annoying cab-TV all day long? Does anyone in their right mind cares about that? In NYC, cabdrivers have tons of multitasking responsibility and need to focus sharply what they are doing in their 12 hours shift. The smallest mistake could lead to accidents or worse. Few months ago, I had a cab with the broken SD card in the GPS, so the cab-TV was silent all day long, it did function but only the logo was on the screen, no commercials, no news, nothing else! End of the trip did show the bills, so riders could pay with credit cards! I had that cab for weeks, and was a joy to work with that, because the faulty SD Card. NOT A SINGLE RIDER MISSED OR COMPLAINED ABOUT IT! Actually, everyone was more relaxed and tipped me better! Unfortunately, I don’t have that cab anymore and the new cabdriver did take it to the GPS repair shop, so they fix it.
Charles U r writing to yourself no one is responding!!!!!!
Many drivers don’t respond, however they are lurking and reading. The more knowledge is spread the more empowerment for drivers.
johnny cab,,stop kissing charles saggy ass and join the union
To Luis. I’ve never seen anything you commented before. However, as I told some others, I keyboard 123 wpm and if it is too much for you, just skip on to the next. My opinions of activities in the NYC cab business are just that, opinions and ideas. If every commenter on this website doesn’t say “right on,” every time I write a comment, it doesn’t mean anything to me. Their comments on this website are to the website for ALL to either benefit or not benefit as they see fit. No one has to respond to anything.
To RadioFree Taxi. About the loud annoying obnoxious screen in the back seat. When I start working on something, I go methodically. I am still very very anti-NY Post because of their delight in DEMONIZING NYC cabbies. So as I wrote above, I bought the NY Post and I am going to pore over every single page, and criticize the NY Post ad infinitum. I’m only on page 9 or so as I wrote above, but I believe in doing so I HAVE HIT UPON A VALUABLE THOUGHT, my passenger helped me. In the little tiny pablum blurb about the city council going to FORCE the tour buses to provide headphones so no one will have to listen to the tour driver loudspeaker!!! Yeah, but as my passenger said, OH THE DISEASE. Boo. This started me thinking. If every rider is going to play their fingers on the back-seat screen, THIS IS NOT SANITARY, and this is how disease is SPREAD. IT IS NOT SAFE. You see, I would not have thought of that UNSAFE aspect of the CC system and its ADVERTISING SCREEN. Here’s what I plan to do. Buy a bag of those hand wipe packets they give out when you are eating lobster. THEN, when the customer gets in I am going to say, here is a hand sanitizer wipe, if you wouldn’t mind using it to SHUT OFF that BLABBING, I can’t stand it. AND you are probably better off not using the CC screen in the cab, and you definitely wouldn’t if you had seen who was in the cab before you putting their fingers all over the screen. But could you use the sanitary wipe to shut it off?
You see, IT IS NOT SANITARY. The Alliance could contact city councilors and say, look you are saving the public (including cabbiesI) from the loudspeaker of the tour buses, that the NY Post calls Tour – Ture. Forcing them to get headphones. Why don’t we put headphones in the back seat of the cab, and a rider can put on their sanitary gloves and hold it near their ear.
OH, WAIT A MINUTE, the RICH REAPERS wouldn’t get their ADVERTISING CASH THAT WAY.
See Louis. You have to use your head.
The advertising will pay for the CC equipment. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. The advertising will make the RICH REAPERS RICH, and the CC equipment will NEVER BE PAID FOR, not as long as the two CEOs of VTS and CMT are getting BIG FAT ADVERTISING MONEY. Ha ha ha ha They will share the NET advertising revenue, but after all the cuts and internal costs including the CEO salaries are taken out, what will be left to share. Ha ha ha ha ha
The back-seat advertising screen is UNSANITARY (unsafe) with everyone’s fingers on it. SAFETY cannot be compromised OR BALANCED against the 5 RICH REAPERS. The back-seat advertising screen system is a FAILURE.
I’d like the Alliance to adopt some of the information I write here, and list it right on the Alliance WebSite so that the TLC regulators can see how every cabbie-dumping regulation is completely understood. No cabbie being fooled about where the BIG CASH IS GOING THAT is coming out of CABBIES’ hands, and GOING INTO THE HANDS OF OUTSIDE ITNERESTS’ hands. I’m busy tonight eating the guacamole I made earlier. Never ate an avocado before 2 months ago, and almost every day, oh boy, the guacamole. I love the Cilantro.
To Luis. There is absolutely no positive percentage in self-enhancement to gain by going around criticizing people’s rear-ends, and then having a foot-stomping hissy fit and yelling out how much you hate someone’s rear-end. It makes you look worse than small, perhaps moronic. You would be better off spending the time washing your hair. If Ms. Bhairavi Desai knows you are talking like that, hmmmm . . . . .Talking like that will inspire cabbies to avoid the Alliance.
Which brings up a good point, we hope the new Deputy Mayor of NYC, Stephen Goldsmith (former mayor of somewhere else) has clean hair. Has anyone seen this Bloomberg pick, that the NY Post hints may somehow run for mayor or be appointed mayor by default, if Bloomberg should run for president in 2012. Give us a break.
To RadioFree Taxi. If a broken SD card in the GPS is what shuts the ear and eye invasion of the back seat, and still allows the CC function, then who is going to write and pass around to cabbies the HOW TO sheet? Heh heh heh heh
Would the TLC be upset if on Friday night I got a few feeling-no-pain high rollers in my cab who asked for music played loud, and I offered Mo-Town, The Doors, The Bee Gees, their picks. They wanted the Doors and I have a beautiful tape I made that only plays those driving numbers. They said, shut the meter off and handed me 5 hundred dollar bills and said drive us around the city all night, play that loud music.
Somehow, I think the TLC would have their underwear in a twiddle. Right or wrong! Nothing like bee-bopping around on a Friday night.
Yesterday, baby in the mother’s lap with fingers in nose, cookie and all over the back-seat screen. Would you want to touch the screen? As far as the Marist poll about which customers will and which will not shut off the back-screen noise. Well, perhaps the more thinking type plans on washing their hands because of even touching the cab’s door handles, so they don’t mind touching the screen to shut it off. But what if they forget? It is a disease SPREADER especially when the screen keeps asking over and over for the customer to press the button for various things including report the cabbie you are with. Poor rider, misconstrues the rules and reports cabbie, at the same time gets medicine resistant Tuberculosis on their finger.
Such a shame, and not only that, a while back I spoke to a CMT technician and asked what he thought of forcing advertising in cabs. He said the computer front and the TV advertising screen backseat were NOT NECESSARY for back-seat credit card processing. In other words, CMT and others had a meter with a slider in the back seat, that the customer would only SLIDE, not touch, and speak the tip and the driver would put it in his meter, but SAID THE TECHNICIAN this is what the garages wanted (and why they wanted it we know is ADVERTISING CUTS), THEY DIDN’T give a rat’s patootie about credit cards for customers except as THE GREEN went in their pockets).
You get it, the TLCl, i.e., the mayor approved the advertising rest, using the credit card as an excuse for CASH.
CMT tech: front screen & backseat TV not needed, only backseat CC slider. The rest can be done with the meters. It was the rich reaper garages that wanted the front computer screen and backseat TV advertising screen set up. You see, it was the rich reaper garages who really liked the idea of detailing every bit of money the cabbie made on a shift, because THE NEXT STEP is to say: CABBIES MAKE THIS AND THAT MONEY, and now we have to raise our RENTAL LEASE RATES. You see, if it is not going to make any of the RICH REAPERS richer, then they don’t want it. If the garages and rich reapers didn’t want it, NYC cabbies would not have it. What does that say about the TLC?
Anyone have a list of all TLC positions with names? How many employees?
NYC cabs need headphones for riders so drivers are not driven crazy. Well, what a nerve, the city council thinks that pedestrians and walkers around the tour – ture buses in NYC should not have to listen to the tourguide’s loudspeakers, so the buses are forced to install headphones for the riders. But one driving cabbie in NYC must ALL DAY LONG listen to the junk on that ridiculous, unsanitary, and unsafe TV screen. It is true, RadioFree Taxi, that before the cushioned pad across the back partition protected somewhat the passenger’s head in case of an accident. Now, a bad stop, and passenger head goes into the TV screen, if not split on the edges of it. And it was a good point, RadioFree, that a rider is a helper in safety, when if the rider spots something he can say, “Watch out.” But not if the rider is watching TV, or cringing from the noise but doesn’t want to risk infection to turn it off.
Yeeee-hah.
Meter & back-seat CC sliders were available at $500-$600 cost each plus $100 or so airtime annually. And you OWNED it. Some tried to charge $1500 (but you owned it.) Have the rich reaper garages shared what their cost of the system was and how much per medallion percent cut on CC charges? No doubt, they gained revenue on the deal and likely were actually paid to put this invasive advertising system in because it raised such exhorbitant revenues for VTS and CMT.
Make hay while the sun shines. Yeee-ha.
Where do these articles come from that do not show an author? The speeding, the fast pass?
Also, with 45,000 NYC cabbies, albeit not all are going to write comments, don’t you need a large capability for them?
I enjoy reading your comments Charles. I appreciate so much doing this! What bothers me, why the rest of the cabbies just lurking around and don’t add anything. Internet is a great way address all outstanding problems, and is a better way to solve what drivers facing every day in their job! I noticed that when I talked to drivers, nearly all of them just gave up hopes, and saying we cannot change anything at the TLC, or at the fleet garages. The biggest problem is drivers not ready for a change, they take it the way is it, and they adopt to it! The cabbies’ success in numbers, and the big reapers know it. When the good cabbie leaves the job, because he/she cannot take it anymore or sick, 4-5 more cabbies will show up to work and the new inexperienced driver happy with less money! Since so many drivers get in and out in this job, the better way to cash in for the big guys, and they want more money! The working conditions get worsened, so the services because of these problems!
To RadioFree Taxi. Nothing will change because of bad-faith regulators and garages. You can have unions, but it is as plain as the nose on anyone’s face what went on with the ‘credit card and advertising grab’ from the cabbies’ pay. And what about the private drivers’ pay? Until the Alliance and the unions step up to the Manhattan District Attorney and reveal the criminal acts, and the financier looting of the NYC cab business, nothing going to change. These people will not change until they are forced by the law, as criminals. And then, forced by the law, they will then try to keep their hold by saying “let’s talk and negotiate.” This would mean another 10 years of lying, scheming, and looting, before more D.A. charges can be brought against them.
Nothing about safety in these lootings. Yet, NYC cabbies could complain all day long about lack of safety of the TV screens but since these are the machines that are bringing in advertising revenue of which no one has any idea of the amount, but if its $500,000 from credit card fees, it must be more than $2 million a day in advertising fees. No one is able to check it, that is the beauty of their scheme.
Not one of them gives a rat’s patootie about the rider or high fares they have been forced to pay because of this scheme.
$500,000 card fees/day to rich reapers. $2 million advertising fees/day to rich reapers (speculating, rich reapers do not reveal advertising revenues). The CMT tech when told that no one wanted these TV screens, said that rear-seat credit card sliders and electronic processing could have been accomplished without a back-seat TV screen and a front computer screen. It was ADVERTISING revenue they were going after. There is no advertising revenue in an electronic front meter and a rear SLIDER with no screen. Garages and VTS and CMT are interested in the advertising revenues. You wouldn’t even know if the mayor was given a cut of the percentages, perhaps 1/8 or 1/16 of one percent of all card charge fees, legally, and piped into TLC support fund of some type.
These vultures came in to take 5-6% of the fares of every single NYC cab ride, if they could convince the public to do it. What is 5-6% of more than a million rides a day? Since the fare sizes vary, you need to use trips that would only give an idea of what they are getting. 5% of all trips is 50,000 trips a day, that the total revenue is going to the RICH REAPERS. If there is an average trip amount established you could do it better that way. Is there one? Until I find that out, I can only say the fares of 50,000 trips a day are going to the RICH REAPERS. If there was an average of $10 a atrip, that would be $500,000 half a million a day that the RICH REAPERS ARE GETTING from cabbies’ pay.
To go back and posit an average of $10 a trip, with 1 million trips a day, $10,000,000 (ten million) revenue a day and 5% of that, the math still comes out to $500,000 a day for the RICH REAPERS from the credit card fees. Now no one is talking about the advertising revenues they are all gettin, because they do not tell anyone what they are. And net advertising revenues is what they claim they will share, but gross advertising revenues could be $5 billion a year, and when CMT and VTS have subtracted all their set-up and promo fees, the net COULD BE $5,000 (thousand) a year. How tricky.
There was nothing about the credit card and tv screens advent that was going to promote safety of driver and rider, the rich reapers did not give a fig about that. It was all about how they were going to separate cabbies from more of their pay, 20% of the pay from each cabbie, times 45,000. Wow. It was nothing about credit cards, it was about a big thieving operation!!!!
Don’t worry, the RICH REAPERS are lurking and reading and they are not happy. We wouldn’t want their comments, because no comment can alleviate the bad-faith onset of the vultures with their card fee revenue coming out of cabbies’ pay and advertising revenue being generated for the rich reapers by that squawking back-seat TV box all day, both drivers and riders alike suffering, so they can collect those big revenues. Nevermind they say it pays for the equipment!! Credit card back seat slider equipment could have been bought and put in the cabs for probably $500 each in quantity, and $6-800 in singles, but the equipment would be OWNED. Cheap.
NY Daily News Reporter and arrticle really GRATE on NYC cabbies. Cabbies are supposed to pick people up and take where asked. Emphasis placed by TLC on NO REFUSAL FOR SHORT FARES. Even at a hotel stand, out comes the little darling who says I know it is only around the corner, but I couldn’t find it and I am too sick to walk there. Period. You are stuck. This is what you do.
And there is MISS PRISS sticking her own ideas about NYC cab regulation all over the place, she is reversing the code of ethics we use, that we should question every short fare, and take off, using MISS PRISS as the excuse why we did it. We did it so MISS PRISS wouldn’t accuse us of trying to get a $5 fare.
Why don’t you stay out of NYC cabs MISS PRISS.
Charles T, u moan and complain on these boards! why don’t u b constructive and start a union..maybe u would b a strong leader,,,,writing here does not solve the problem
To Luis. I owe you an apology. There is a lot of rear-end focus in society. I remember it was vogue to call people skinny ass MF, half-assed, fat ass, big ass, or just plain ass. I had forgotten because no one seems to do it lately. But you reminded me. You’re not the only one with butt-focus. Maybe the reason that so many cabbies, 45,000 or so, do not want to go on this website and comment is they are afraid there is a police aspect to this website, especially with the lost item aspect. Or the limo to airport ads, whatever.
Aren’t there two “unions” already?
Let Greenbaum, Sherman, and Davis donate clean bathrooms at JFK. These are the credit card and advertising tycoons.
Call NYC & NYS public safety depts, report unsanitary bathrooms JFK and TV screens back seat.
If you all ever got your shit together, no one would fuck with you! It’s a shame that drivers are so selfish and ignorant that they wouldn’t do something for the greater good while everyone and their mother is getting a piece of your hard-earned money!
To Brooklyn Mark, good to know there are not police lurkers here. By the way, you took the baby blue background off of your comments!!!
To Winky. You are right about acting for the good of all. If 45,000 cabbies purchased a Village Voice(s) and gave out one a day to the customers laughing they are better than the NY Post. Can you imagine those NY Post reporters having a foot-stomping hissy fit if they found out. One week, 145,000 competitors newspapers given to tourists and New Yorkers. Soon those preying on the cabbies will be feeling the little legal stings of 45,000 cabbies.
Cabbies who rent from garages fear high profile, those they complain about may whisper over their pipeline to the garages (who are getting cuts along with them) that so and so is vocal with criticism. Suddenly, the cabbies goes to get ‘his’ cab, and suddenly they don’t have one, tip or no tip.
Is there a feature in this website I don’t know about that would allow another commenter (who is not involved in the website) to find out my e-mail address, or I could find out someone else’s e-mail address? If so, this might also be a reason you are not getting more cabbie comments.
It boils down to how many of the 13400 NYC cabbies are owned by fleet garages(even small fleets like 4 or 5, who don’t drive a cab) and how many are owned by private drivers who do lease our their extra cabs too. I don’t feel like asking Matthew Pollack and why would he be the only one who knows? There was an article saying 35% of them are owned by large fleet rental garages. The definition of large may have led to a BIG MISTAKE OF FACT.
Winky.
Oh, no, NOT Yessky but Yassky? No saying Yessky to Bloombergsky?
Sorry I forgot to login. The blue background means that it is my official comment and not an impostor. There is no police here. So drivers do not be scared to speak your mind! It is also not required to include your email in a posting, you may remain anonymous!
To Brooklyn Mark. But who shares the e-mail with other commenters if someone does place an e-mail address with the comment. I see the website does not show it with the comment. So who shares with other commenters if the website does not display it?
To Luis.
To Brooklyn Mark.
To Brooklyn Mark. Obviously Brooklyn Mark is a Nom de PIume. Is your first initial J?
No, the site does not include your email address. You must physically type it in. All the fields are optional, even name.
Yes, how did you know?
