A city, town or state government is supposed to be a GOOD NEIGHBOR. The idea that the mayor of a city would allow a quasi Ponzi scheme and itself hold auctions that would send medallion prices sky high, and make $100 million in just one auction, when there were three auctions. Ultimately these auctions will drive the little guys out of the NYC cab business, and those new owners a $775,000 and $560,000 will maybe be able to rent them out at a small profit, but no more livelihood coming out of driving a cab by the little guys, only the huge number owners. The big guys, they already own 3000 medallions, billionaires, just looking for chumps to sell a medallion to at that price. At those prices, no one getting a livelihood. So in effect, the city auctions put the 4,000 and some individual medallion owners out of business, if not yet, just a few more knick knacks will do it. And off will blow the circus tent cover. In this case the city of NY was not a good neighbor. Good neighbors do not put 4,000 little guys out of business just for GREED. The primary purpose of government is the protection of the people and their possessions. Who chopped down the cherry tree?

Anyone know the name of an honest mechanic? Thought so.

Another edition of news you can use from the people who could care less about you the driver. This fat slob on the front is one of the biggest theives in the business. He is part of our favorite taxi conglomerate. The one that owns all the medallions, underwrites the insurance, pays off TLC inspectors to pass shitty cars and is an investor in the big garages and good friend of Greenbaum, Sherman, and others.

A complete fraud.

Ancient Sage June 15, 2010 at 8:33 pm

Ancient sages knew centuries ago those who ran the money wound up with all the money. Then the kings would kill them, and those who escaped ran to another country(s) to run the money. Something you can count on in life, those who run the money, will wind up with all the money.

Should I tell you what they have in STORE for cabbies? The credit card systems are not MERELY credit card systems. The DIM and the PIM, there is a reason for these, which are NOT NECESSARY for electronic approval of credit & debit cards. And there was an inflated false amount even these cost, saying advertising WAS NECESSARY to pay for the units put in cabs. The systems they put in are 3/4 of a COMPUTERIZED DISPATCH SYSTEM, meaning taking calls from the public for cabs, and SENDING the cabbie there with GPS who is closest. However, being dispatched means CHEATING with the size of dispatched fares, and it means TIME TRAVELING TO A JOB. They have eyes on this for New York City. All you have to do is read their tech vision literature and Bruce Schaller literature about NYC yellow cab system, saying there is still a problem in NYC placing the cab to the rider waiting for one. This is COMPUTER DISPATCH, and as soon as ‘they’ figure out how to bomp cabbies on the head with it, THEY ARE GOING TO DO IT. Computer dispatch takes up 1/2 the cabbies 12 hours going to pick up and wait for the rider. And the cheating! Saying GPS can’t cheat! ha ha ha ha. The real cheat will be on the individual medallions who will be FORCED to pay a weekly dispatch fee to join one or the other. The Greenbaum or Sherman conglomerate will collect the weekly dispatch fee from the individual medallion owners, it will come to $300 a month, a new burden on them. Then, will cabbies be allowed to refuse these? If so, the calls waiting, will they go to black cabs under the table. This is being planned, and as soon as they can they will do it. Leasing cabbies [of cabs] from the fleets will not have to pay a dispatch fee, the medallion owners will pay it. How can individual medallions afford both new cars every 3 years, and a $300 a month dispatch fee?

Would Ms. Bhairavi Desai of the Alliance (NYTWA) please keep after the TLC when posting medallion transfers (sales) to include sold by NAME, purchased by NAME, DATE of sale/transfer, and medallion NUMBER. As the statistics are published now on the TLC website, it doesn’t tell you anything. Bloomburg could have purchased 10 medallions before the auctions started and sold the 10 at the end. We don’t know, principal of corporation selling, and buying name should be there too.

Jose June 26, 2010 at 6:46 am

That function should be for the New York City Council rather than Bhairavi. We have a corrupt system from Bloomberg and the TLC and a City council chaired by a lesb….who DOES NOT DO ITS WORK and who is politically in bed with Blooomberg. The district attorneys, 5 of them in the City have the power to investigate the TLC and the corrupt machine around it and the City controler but guess what: They will not do it because They go to bed politically with the biggest corrupt of all that is Mr Bloomberg. Everyday this administration looks more like the one of Mr. Edward Koch more than 20 years ago. Money talks!!!that’s right and either City controller, districts attorneys and City council are doing the job for who They were elected to do it. New York democracy in action and this is the same democracy We want for Irak & Afghanistan! Ja, ja!!!!

Chattanooga Choo Choo June 26, 2010 at 9:39 am

No, D.A. cannot get involved until TLC refuses to properly list transfers/sales of medallions. It takes Ms. Bhairavi Desai and Alliance NYTWA to keep sending formal letters to TLC and City Website to list corporation NAME of seller corporation, and principal name, NAME of buyer corporation, and principal name, DATE OF transfer/sale, MEDALLION number, and maybe even BROKER conglomerate name. Once the TLC ignores the continued demands of Alliance, then a formal letter to the District Attorney.

Dixie Flyer June 26, 2010 at 9:45 am

Yes, the NYTWA Alliance must send repeated notarized letters demand that medallion transfers/sales contain the public information so that sales/transfer PRICE MANIPULATION, or CONFLICTS of interest are revealed. Are there any conflict of interest laws that would prevent TLC members from buying & selling medallions thru a broker? Or even Mayor Bloomberg from buying & selling medallions thru a broker? At minimum, the sales/transfer monthly list (including archives) must list DATE of transfer/sale, corporation & principal seller names, corporation & parincipal buyer names, PRICES, and MEDALLION NUMBER transferred/sold.

Cockroach Spotlight June 26, 2010 at 10:01 am

Beyond belief! 25% increase for ALL NYC RIDERS, so Greenbaum, Sherman et. al., can pull same 25% out of cabs & so some rich riders use credit cards. Factored in, rider-supported advertising screen costs which benefit none but said Cartel. No Even-Steven for cabbies, who as a TLC perk have their lives nailed to the surveillance board and lose all kinds of time & credit card jump-outs. So the Cartel & TLC can spend day and night running statistics. For example, the top 10 who did the highest paid flats in a cab today. Which cabs made the most money. And WHERE did they make it. A cabbie works hard to develop his routine, only to have Cartel black cab find out these routines. No one answered the question that some commentator posed: which credit card SPY advertising system outed all the supposed cabbie overchargin? Did all three begin searches at the behest of the TLC?

Dixie Flyer June 26, 2010 at 10:09 am

Crying shame, TLC/Mayor NEVER gave ever-loving cabbie souls 25% fare increase, but they alone work NYC cab operation. Gave a 25% fare increase to RIDERS so Greenbaum, Sherman et al., cartel, could take the 25% out. And individual owners all had to pay to install this price-inflated equipment that went way beyond the credit card service, to ADVERTISING and GPS. Greenbaum, Sherman et al., also getting the installation and maintenance fee income, equipment sale revenue, looks like a big fraudulent cash grab, paid for by all riders of NYC and time, money, and jump loss borne by the drivers who drive the riders. A driver/rider operation, 25% taken from riders for the parasites, as someone said the rich reapers.
