A taxi driver with a short fuse is facing assault charges for walloping a Bronx woman who threw up in his cab, police sources said today.
The incident happened about 11:30 p.m. Thursday after cabbie Gurpreet Singh picked up Yolanda Rodriguez at Broadway and West 65th Street in Manhattan.
Singh, 32, lost his cool when Rodriguez, 24, threw up in the back seat after warning him to slow down because she gets motion sickness, the sources and the victim said.
“I get motion sickness and he was driving really, really fast,” Rodriguez told The Post. “I said, ‘I’ll throw up in the car,’ but he wouldn’t slow down.”
After Rodriguez threw up, the 6-foot-2 Singh swerved to a stop, got out of the cab and began spewing bile at Rodriguez and a friend with her
“He yelled, ‘Get the f— out of my car. Get out of my car right now. You guys are whores and bitches,’” she said.
Rodriguez said she got out and told him, “Don’t talk to us like that,” and he hit her on the shoulder.
She hit him back, she said, and he began walloping her, punching her on the forehead head so hard she fell down.
“He punched me so hard, it forced me back,” she said. “I felt myself falling and I put my hands up to protect my face.”
Rodriguez said she fell on her wrists, spraining both of them. On her doctor’s advice, she hasn’t worked since.
The Bronx woman, who graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2007 with a degree in business management, works for an advertising agency.
She is thinking about suing Singh.
“I don’t want him to ever drive a taxi again,” she said. “I never want him to hit another female.”
Singh, who faces a year behind bars if convicted of third-degree assault, has been suspended by the Taxi and Limousine Commission pending the outcome of the case.
He has been a cabbie since 1996.
His driving record shows that he was involved in accidents in September 2006 and July 2007 and his license was suspended for five weeks in March 2007 because of failure to pay a parking ticket.
He was fined $125 for making an improper signal in Nassau County in July 2005 and he was fined $40 in October 2007 for making an improper turn in Manhattan.
Singh, reached on his cellphone, said, “Don’t f—– bother me, f—,” and hung up.

Hey dude you have been cab for 13 years and you couldn’t control your little temper its shame on you. These is how i control my temper when thing like this happen i said to the customer you have pay for the clean up for my cab if they don’t pay f— it just go car wash and pay only $15. there are only0.2 % customers like that in the sin city which is of course NYC .
Cab security cameras in a NYC yellow cab could preserve the evidence and either exonerate the driver or convict him!

I have to say NYC cabbies drive horrible and 90% of them would not even bother getting out of the car to help you with your suitcases or bags. But they are rude and expect you to tip them????

It’s not worth it to argue with passengers, we all have to remember that we are providing a service..i’m sure people throw up in bars all the time..you don’t see the bouncers beating them up…people throw up in doctors offices all the time..you don’t see the doctor injecting them with an air bubble…..

Taxi business is really competitive, once you stop your cab your balance starts going down. so if someone throws up in my cab ofcourse il be mad but you know how people are, selfish. they want to take a cab but if you make a small mistake their whole world comesdown. how they brag about getting late and getting fired. if someone talks crap to me im not gona sit there and listen, no one does that and i dont care if its a guy or a girl. Middel fingers to all the cabbies who thinks “Singh” is guilty.

I was drunk in a friend’s car once. Really drunk. I told him, “pull over I’m gonna vomit”. He pulled over and I vomited. I respected my friend’s property. It’s obvious that this BITCH said in her mind, “oh let me vomit in this animal’s car, it doesn’t matter, he’s less than a human being, he has no rights, I OWN HIM”

This is B.S.!! The article says that Rodriguez got out of the car and said “Don’t talk to us like that!” She had the power to get out and talk and then hit him back, but she didn’t have the power to say, “stop the car I’m going to vomit”.
Another point all the cabbie bashers missed was that as Singh was beating the living crap out of her she wouldn’t go down. Why? Why? If a man punches a woman, the woman goes down. This woman was hitting back. That’s my assessment. Let’s not condemn our brother so easily.
To AR, the reason I don’t get out of the car to load a suitcase is because my back is practically broken from sitting in a chair that’s concave with broken springs. I practically walk like IGOR after sitting for 12 hours. Are you a cabby AR? C’mon brothers, band together. Besides I see plenty of health-ridden old cabbies helping people with suitcases. I do too, everytime, when it’s a female, because it means an extra $1. Something in me says, “Go monkey! Go! Get that money!”

You sound like a pompous passenger who cries when running late and asks the cab driver to get you to your destination “as quickly” as they can. When the driver listens to you and risks his license for your sorry self, you probably tip him a whole dollar (if he’s lucky.)
The young chick that got beat up (of course getting beaten up isn’t the answer) was hammered drunk. Let’s read between the lines. Couldn’t control her liquor and thinks that the yellow cab is her security blanket. Let the whore take the train home if she can’t respect a yellow cab. Probably all the homeless people on the train would enjoy her company more than us, yellow cab drivers.
