Douglas Guldeniz honored for going the extra mile

by Brooklyn Mark on April 5, 2008 · 3 comments

He drove a Queens couple some 2,500 miles to their new retirement home in Arizona last April. Now, Guldeniz is getting official recognition for what officials believe is the longest taxi ride in city history. He won the city Taxi and Limousine Commission’s Going the Extra Mile award.

He was among about 60 cabbies honored yesterday for doing good deeds, ranging from returning lost cell phones to stopping a rape suspect.

What about insurance? Most of my cab work is outside of Maryland and my insurance guy has to go through tons of bravo sierra to write my policy. Then there are the cops who do the same drug search at the same hours of the night like they are going to find dope.
