Cash-strapped taxi passengers were out of luck yesterday after the system that wirelessly links to credit-card fare machines in thousand of cabs went down for hours.
A partial hardware failure caused the system that services about 6,000 cabbies to crash at about 2 p.m.
The outage extended through the rush hour.
The breakdown left many passengers with no way to pay their fare.
“People were mad,” said a cabby in Midtown last night. “One man was fighting with me. He said, ‘I don’t wanna pay you. I have no cash.’ ”
The system suffered a similar outage in January when a glitch caused machines to go down for an entire day.
The credit-card fare system, installed in 2004, fully came back online at about 9:15 p.m., said a spokesman for the company that runs it.

The credit card fare system doesn’t work half the time. I was riding to La Guardia and the machine took my money about 5 times til I was broke and couldn’t pay anymore. The cabbie kept telling me I was trying to rip him off and even after I called my bank and had him listen to the transactions, he threatened to call the cops on me and made me cry.
Credit-card system should be simplified, without that annoying cab TV. Misplacing 30-100 dollars per driver, because that credit card system glitches again, and this time with 6000 drivers! It is too much, and top of that, the cops constantly ticketing hardworking cabdrivers! Every-day something troubling going on, and make us adaptable for something new. Electronic companies and car manufacturing giants should buy ot medallions and car service bases, drivers must buy a brand new car and keep it for two years. No more leases, rents, inspections, tickets, 12 hour shifts, smelly junk, overseas slaves, $50 for 12hour work. What’s instead: good american jobs, steady income, and a lot of respect !

2-take passenger ID copy with your smart phone
3-fill up trip form include receipt copy for the trip
4-passenger signs the form ,make sure you got same signature as the one in the passenger ID.
5-take an email address with phone number.
6-then process the credit card at your garage.

Americans are mathematicians, banks control the economy and they buy and hijack any real good business, and put immigrant to work, banks do calculate every parameter even take in account your mentality and the way you dream, in usa you must work for the bank before making your öwn money, for example; banks do know the trip average is 10 dlrs and the number of trips during the 12 hour shift is 24 wich means one trip for every 30 minute so the driver äverage income is $240. Then if you give 50 percent to the bank, your lease is 120$. The big part is this, the city of ny ïs asking 20 years of work in advance for a medallion, if you take 120$ per day for 20 years, it will come out $120•365•20=$876000==1 million, so 20 years of work is the medallion price not unĉlude insurance, tlc fees and car price with repairs. So to make money in 20 years you need to buy a medallion and have tẅo drivers every day i said everyday, without stopping! You will make in 20 years, one million, that why tlc is providing tons of drivers to all garages, the medallion never sleeps. If we need to revaluate the medalion price, it should depend on driver performance, and not on auction performance or banks interests, in this case any driver who works hard can buy his own wich can use or sell after retirement, any driver who worked on one shift should be credited one point, one week 4 point one month 10 point, one year 100 point, so when the driver reach a ten years point about 1000 point, the drive must receive 15 percent of the medallion value, for 100000 points, driver can receive 30 percent of the medallion value, in this case, at the auction they must think twice, its the way drivers can drive smiling …
