How’s about App-arently freeing up some traffic lanes for taxis with passenger/s? Who wants to pay 15-20 dollars getting nowhere, for sitting in the never-ending traffic jam? App-arently bike-express will be the future. Cabs are paralyzed in the congested city streets.
I don’t like the idea of rewarding one n only winning bid. Let three or more apps available to consumers, passengers n drivers, so app companies would company have to compete to satisfy consumer demands. Otherwise we as consumers end up with not satisfactory performance of meters by iDumb or iStupid or iConfuse or iCarewhom? n their receipts compartments ever annoying to feed n receipts rolls more difficult than peeling banana by iMonkey but we, as consumers, no other choice but keep buying because nothing else available.
Does anybody know, how many Jews drives yellow taxi these days? Just curious….
Are you gonna make such app to rate the passenger also so that next time when the passenger with rated low (danger) the taxi driver can be alert with such passenger. Driver’s safety.. Just curious…
Individual medallion owners might as well sell out. Your hail rights are going, your pay is going (passengers will not even have to open their wallets, your customer base is gone. Do you want to drive 12 hours a day, and get what someone gives you? All your money and all your work going to come from Big Rich Pants Sky Boy. This is what your TLC did for you!!! They were always going to dispatch these NYC Yellow Cabs because that’s where the gazillions are. Credit card take was just a zillion or two. Now it will approach a gatrillion.
Did anyone think that the cabbies and the riders were the important parts of the NYC cab business? Did anyone think that the TLC was looking out for them and the individual owners? Think again, there is nothing altruistic about NYC and the gatrillions coming from the cab business. Too bad all these cabbies couldn’t quit overnight. Let them get new worker beans to order around and pay when they want.
Can’t any cabbies go to the city council and demand their councilor overturn this decision?
It just occurred to me, NYC cabs had the exclusive right to pick up in NYC territory, hmmmm, how quickly did the TLC want to give away 4/5 of this territory so they could install the card money and advertising machines. Now the TLC has granted an exclusive right to this APP, how exclusive is that? Ho ho ho. My gosh, idle minds are the devil’s workshop.
The impossible dream I would love to have. TLC & Rich Sky Boys install the APP in all NYC cabs (obviously not by option) but by edict. So then when the TLC & Rich Sky Boys and all the sell-cabbies-out recipients for a cut down the line, are sitting waiting for the money to come pouring into their bank accounts automatically —- surprise, no NYC cabbie, not one, takes an APP job no matter where it comes from, they just ignore it, and continue as usual, hail rights – forget the apps. Unfortunately, the APP rider will not be able to pay by the everyone-get-a-slice method APP, because the cabbie will have to say, sorry, I am not accepting any app, if you used an App I did not take it, thus you will have to pay to play, or stay all day (on the curb). I’d love it. And there they’d all be with their bare faces hanging out trying to count their gazillions and gatrillions. Could every NYC cabbie all 50,000 be relied upon to give the APP & TLC people the scr*w job of all time?
Another impossible day dream, or is it? Suppose the cabbies each got a bicycle with a metal seat, padded, for a rider! Now the cabbie goes out and asks the prospective rider, do you want to go to X destination for $5, or $10? Off they go. Since the cabbie does not have to earn $1500 a week for the right to have a rider, if he gets only 40 jobs a day, he’s got $200 and no snooty tyrant card pay riders!! ‘Course you’d have to let the rider hug you!! Hey, maybe more bonding and compassion between rider and bikie! 50,000 bikies in NYC. Of course TLC couldn’t rule it unsafe, after all, what about pedi-cabs, those fatalities waiting to happen? The bikies could cut right through Central Park.

Why going overseas to buy an app.can’t America with over 300 million people comeup with a real solution. Where other american companies out there.nv200 made in Mexico and gps made in canada and drivers made in africa.google inc can make it easier for us to find passengers.twiter can.and I don’t thing that 3 high frequency signals are safe for both the driver and the passenger.all wirless signal do make bools and dna to vibrates and that what cause disturbings within cell and cause cancer
Let’s ask Mayor B his opinion regarding the danger of high frequency signals in cab after the success of his large size soda banning in the board of health last week as the first of such in the nation. Nah, we’d better not because I think we, “T” collectively may be on the bad list of the lion like the gang of laughing hyenas after recent defeat in selling 2000 medallions n others before. We r responsible for the disappearance of $2B worth of deers, rabbits, zebras n other goodies. At least don’t laugh in front of him. N don’t drink big size of soda bottle in front of him, really not even any can of soda from vending machine for ur health. Even diet ones r bad due to acidity causing all kinds of ailments including heartburn, inflammation, arthritis, aging to cancers. So with excessive meat. Drink plain water or plain green tea (home brewed no sugar) n many coins or muni-meter card for quick action.
A passenger told me rather than get two cabs for 8 people her friend used an app and a car was sent. A nice car at a good price. The medallion taxi business is going the way of the horse and buggy. Nothing lasts forever and with Bloomberg after us the handwriting is on the wall. But we will have cell charging ports and glass sun roof. Think that will save us?
